Cheap but not so cheerful |
As has been said elsewhere, this program does represent good value for money, and a satisfactory but basic visual interpretation of your garden design. However, the down-sides may well have you screaming at the program rather than singing its praises. Currently, the most frustrating problems can be summerised as: 1) curved edges are not automatically available - instead straight lines are stretched onto an elipse template (and not very well in the 3-D mode where you are designing a brick path for a small garden); 2) not enough options on the hard landscaping e.g. no bark chippings, water features limited, different types of edging; 3) no Ctrl + Z undo; 4) difficult to select objects; and 5) a growing feeling that the range of plants which you can select is designed with the North-American market in mind, given that those listed in RHS books invariably fail to be available! I feel that many of the niggles I have with the program are because the programmers have seriously failed to pay attention to details and have been sloppy. I therefore dont recommend this program - and I didnt even need to use the slope function!

Ok, I paid peanuts but.... |
I have a good video card but it tells me it cant work at its best as I dont have 256 colours!!The next big thing is the UNDO function - there aint one. Its vital and it means you have to delete the object and add it- a pain if its a complex shape. The 3d is so-o-o-o clunky. Greenhouses and sheds are not all one size! And this is after half an hours use. P>. This product is immature, I feel and needs more work to bring it up to a basic standard.

Sadly disappointed |
|
I purchased this software on the basis of other reviews and have been disappointed. Having used other house design software in the past I know that this type of programme isnt the easist to use so I didnt set my expectations too high. It is pretty straightforward to begin with and as another reviewer has said, it is great if you have a very standard shaped garden. My real problem with it is that the 3D views dont represent items (basic things such as patios and paths!) in the same dimensions as they have been drawn. Seeing as one of the benefits of this type of programme is to help you visualise changes to the garden I think this is a pretty fundamental flaw.
